Home Computer User:
Over the years my number of online purchases has steadily increased. I still go to local stores for groceries and clothing. Other than that, everything else I shop for I do so online. When my cell phone battery died, I picked up a new battery for $5.95 on eBay. Book shopping has been no different; I can always find the book I want on Amazon.com for cheaper than they are in stores. When I needed a new Ravens jersey, I bought one online for $30. I am also able to find Ravens tickets for fairly cheap days before a game on Craigslist.com. By the way, I’m a Ravens fan. With the busy lifestyle that I have, the time and gas saved from not driving out to a store is highly valued. Another advantage to online shopping that I appreciate is the ability to look at product reviews easily as I shop. Most online stores have user reviews or comments on the related pages and I can also easily Google search for product reviews myself on another browser tab. I encourage everyone to consider shopping online. It is important to do this safely so take a look at the tips below and have fun shopping in your pj's.
Tips For Safe Online Shopping
1. Don't click on links from your email about 'Specials.' These may be scams and may contain viruses, instead open up a browser window and type in the website address yourself.
2. Only use a credit card on Web pages that use SSL (secure sockets layer) security. These Web pages should have an 's' after 'http' in the url.
3. Update your operating system and anti-virus program BEFORE shopping.
4. Download the latest version of your web browser BEFORE shopping.
